The Japanese vegetable knife: extremely versatile and suitable for tasks such as cutting, dicing or chopping. Its shape is reminiscent of a cleaver but should not be confused with it as a Nakiri is not suitable for rough tasks (such as splitting bones). The very sharp and finely ground blade is more designed to prep vegetables, herbs and fruit very quickly and finely. The dimpled edge of the knife (slight depressions in the blade that allow small pockets of air to form) prevents ingredients from sticking.
The Japanese-style WÜSTHOF Classic 7" Hollow Edge Nakiri is a master of versatile produce prep work: it makes kitchen tasks such as slicing, dicing, mincing, and chopping a simple everyday pleasure. The shape is inspired by a Japanese-style cleaver though should not be confused with one, as the Classic Nakiri knife is not suitable for rougher tasks such as splitting bones for the stockpot. (For tasks such as this, please peruse one of our premium cleavers instead!) The dimpled edge of the 7" Hollow Edge Nakiri Knife allows small air pockets to form during slicing, which prevents food from sticking to the blade.
